Search by who is cared for

Finding services by the people they are registered to care for

Service user bands are the most specific targeting field the register publishes, and they appear in the bulk file only.

Why the band matters more than the label

Two services can share a service type and have nothing in common. One registered for younger adults with learning disabilities and one registered for older people with dementia buy different equipment, recruit different staff and answer to different commissioners. The band is what separates them, and it is missing from the weekly file entirely.

Bands we index

Older people
By some distance the largest band, and the one most lists stop at.
Dementia
Frequently co-registered with older people and implies specific environmental and staffing requirements.
Learning disabilities or autistic spectrum disorder
Usually community and supported living rather than residential.
Mental health
Spans community services and secure inpatient settings, which are not comparable.
